Industry-Veteran Laura Ackerman Brings Strategic Leadership and New Media Expertise to Agency
WESTBOROUGH, MA – March 11, 2011 – Rainier Communications, the most credible voice in technology PR, today announced that it has hired Laura Ackerman as Senior Account Manager. In this role, Ackerman is charged with the management of public relations, social media and marketing communications strategies for innovative technology organizations. Ackerman has worked in the public relations field for more than twelve years, representing companies in the high technology, social media and consumer market segments.

Most recently Ackerman was a freelance marketing consultant, working with technology innovators like Wave Systems, as well as assisting on the social media strategy for the winning campaign of MA State Treasurer Steve Grossman. Prior to her independent contracting work, Ackerman was the Director of Public Relations and Account Services at Fuseideas, a full-service advertising, web development and public relations firm. Ackerman also served as a Senior Public Relations Manager at Kel & Partners, a leading Web 2.0 public relations agency, managing award-winning public relations campaigns for Burst Media and Iconoculture.
From 1999-2007, Ackerman worked at Schwartz Communications. Promoted several times in her tenure at Schwartz, she was an Account Supervisor focused on leading public relations teams within the high tech group. Her expertise at Schwartz centered on open source software, application development, virtualization, security, wireless and telecommunications markets. Ackerman began her career as a client associate at Peter Arnold Associates.
Throughout her career, Ackerman has placed thousands of stories in all mediums: print, online, television and new media. She has placed clients in an array of publications, ranging from the Associated Press, FOX News, the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Newsweek, US News & World Report, to technical outlets like IEEE Journal, EE Times, ComputerWorld, and PC Magazine. She works closely with industry influencers, both online and off, to help clients forge strategic leadership roles in their marketplace.
Ackerman holds an MBA in Business Ethics from Bentley College’s McCallum Graduate School of Business. She graduated cum laude from Brandeis University with a BA in Art History.
